Selection in the international programme Actors of Urban Change

Out of 127 proposals form 35 countries, PLACE IDENTITY, in partnership with design agency TheSwitch and the City of Athens SynAthina Office has been selected in the final phase of the Bosch Foundation Actors of Urban Change Programme. The program Actors of Urban Change aims to achieve sustainable and participatory urban development through cultural activities. This is carried out by strengthening the competencies for cross-sector collaboration among actors from the cultural scene, the administration, and the private sector. Through local projects, coaching and Europe-wide exchange, our actors of urban change put those skills into practice.
Τhe proposal is entitled “Athens Urban Agora: reviving Varvakeios Square” and aims at the developmenmt of a prototype participatory urban design process for the revival of a public space across the Central Market.
The other cities participating in the programme are: in partnership with similar cross-sectoral teams from Aveiro (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain), Berlin (Germany), Bratislava (Slovakia),Kaunas (Lithuania), Lublin (Poland), Maribor (Slovenia), Zagreb (Croatia) and Zugdidi (Georgia).
