Synoikia Pittaki
“We must bring our own light to the darkness. Nobody is going to do it for us.”Charles Bukowski
The light installation at Pittaki street, was part of a wider project called “Synoikia” -that means neighborhood in greek-a truly collaborative initiativeImagine the City, a cluster for urban regeneration, and Beforelight. This installation is based on the participation of the local society and is originated as idea at Beforelight’s previous work “Under a different light” in Thesalloniki.
People of Athens were invited and mobilized to donate their old light fixtures for the creation of the installation, while murals were painted along the walls of the street, in order to transform this abandoned street of central Athens, into a homely space.
